Over 287 local people turned out in force on Sunday 20th March at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at York Sport Village. Milers of all ages were sponsored to walk or run themselves proud across the 1,3 and 6 mile routes.

The day was a massive success with friends and families joining together to go the extra mile for Sport Relief 2016. The day saw some amazing people taking part in the event, ranging from children to adults and a large number of dogs too! We had people supporting fancy dress, people running with pushchairs and people over coming personal challenges that they never thought they could!

Emily Hearle (York Sport’s Sport Development Manager) said, “It was a fantastic day! Watching the community come together to support such a great cause was brilliant! We feel very proud knowing that the money raised here today will help people living unimaginably tough lives right here in York, across the rest of the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.”

Sport Relief would like to say a huge thank you to each and every person who has donated money or given their time to go the extra mile.
