Host a Made in YORK afternoon event

Host a Made in YORK afternoon event!

This year we agreed to draw up a list of dates where other paid members can host/present our afternoon events.

In terms of co-ordinating, promoting and managing the administration of the events of course I will still do all those things but you would be 100% in charge of the content and meeting format!

Traditionally our afternoon events have had 3 or 4 mini presentations followed by a group discussion. I think the group discussion worked well so perhaps that is something that could be developed more. If still want some presentations should we dispense with the projector and screen to keeps things simpler and more personal?

So far Mark Hind, Debbie Pickering, Jane Fisher, Mark Harris, John Bramwell and Ally Hayes have expressed an interest in hosting. Please get in touch if you would also like to present an event.

Below are dates and links to all our 2017 afternoon events.

If you want to present an event please let me know which event you would like to host asap this week so we can get a schedule drawn up and dates in the diary.

Thursday 23 March

Thursday 27 April

Thursday 25 May

Thursday 22 June

Thursday 26 October

Thursday 23 November

Any questions please ask.

Thank you.

Fancy hosting a Made in YORK event?

on Thursday, 04 August 2016. Posted in News, Promotions, Events

With the holiday season closing soon and the next Made in YORK event getting ever nearer I thought it was a good time to inject an interesting twist on our events.

Due to other commitments earlier in the year a couple of our meetings were hosted by group members and that gives us a great opportunity to tweak things without changing the format, provides an opportunity for others to get themselves across on a more personal basis and allows me to attend as an attendee for a change! In terms of co-ordinating, promoting and managing the administration of the events I will still do all those things.

So if you would like to host some of our events please let me know asap.

Our next event is Friday 2 September and you can book via this link:

See you there.

Reaching out to members of Made in YORK

I have had a very busy start to the year and just opened my second clinic at Redmayne Lodge in Strensall ( It would be great if you could come over to take a look at how my business is growing and how I help both individuals and businesses to be healthier and happier.

I am currently arranging lots of 1-more’s (me plus 3 others) so if you are interested in coming along for 1 hour, with 15 minutes each for everyone to present both their company and what their ideal referrals would look like, get in touch with me at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Is there anyone you would really like to sit down with, perhaps someone you haven’t seen for a while or someone totally new that you haven’t yet met?

Tuesday 23rd or Thursday 25th February are just two proposed dates when I will be hosting meetings with a number of different business owners.

Alternative dates would be Tuesday 1st and Thursday 3rd March.

It is also important to add that when you commit, you must endeavour to attend, as there will not just be myself expecting you.

Plus I will have a special bonus for you when you do come along.

This November, local solicitors firm Roche Legal have participated in the Will Aid scheme for the second year. As one of the smallest firms in the town, they were the only solicitors in York who participated this year. Rachel and Melanie raised an amazing £2,500 for charity, more than doubling their total from last year!

"We are very proud to be a part of this project, which runs throughout November and provides clients and charities alike with a great outcome. It’s a super opportunity to give something back to the community" said Rachel Roche, Solicitor and Director.

Rachel and Melanie donated their time for free to meet with clients, take instructions and prepare their Wills. Clients received a simple single or mirror Will, and instead of paying a fee to Roche Legal, they made a donation to Will Aid.

Will Aid in turn then distributes the money raised to its nine nominated charities, providing much needed funding to good causes around the UK and the world – everybody wins! The charities who benefit are ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF, SightSavers and Trōcaire.

Solicitors proud to have flown the flag for York

on Tuesday, 17 November 2015. Posted in News

The Hethertons team were delighted to be named among the finalists of the recent Yorkshire Legal Awards.

The firm was one of three battling it out in the employment law category and we were delighted to be flying the flag for York (we were the only law firm from the city to make this year’s shortlist.)

Our head of employment law Jo Yeates and senior associate solicitor Gillian Markland went along to the awards ceremony held at New Dock Hall, Leeds – an imposing venue on the city’s waterfront.

In the end we were just pipped at the post, but we’re obviously delighted to have been highly commended – no mean feat in a region with scores of solicitors and a population of around five million.

Jo said: “Even to be shortlisted was a massive honour and we feel that it reflected the exceptional service that we offer to our clients.”

The awards take place every 12 months and recognise the legal profession’s achievements in almost 20 different categories.

If you would like advice about any aspect of employment law, please give Hethertons a call on 01904 528 200 and speak to Jo or Gill.
